Life’s Delights

Take delight in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalm 37:4

When I see my three nieces, I feel joy. I’m not sure why, but it comes on instantaneously. The girls are so much fun to be with as they share their love of life openly through music, skits, clowning around, and games or perhaps we go out for some special hot chocolate. They are a delight. It’s somewhat like that when I see God, whether it is during a quiet time or when I see his hand at work, I feel joy.

God’s presence shows God’s love. The times we share are wonderful with always an element of surprise. Each day is another opportunity to travel this journey with our best friend, Jesus. With Jesus being our guide, we will be shown new things that we never knew and maybe never thought about. He openly shares his love of life with us. The trip will be an adventure.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for being my guide and giving me joy in the journey. I pray that I will never take for granted the wonderful things you have to show me each day. Amen

Faith Tip: If you are ready for adventure, put on your spiritual seat belt and follow the guide, Jesus.

“Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”- Psalm 37:4

“We need to cheer again?” I asked my young niece as we were in between plays of bocce ball at a family picnic.

“Yes!” she exclaimed, “We need to cheer every time!” We would then go into our crazy cheer that we made up. I considered it my aerobics for the day. It truly was a delight to have such fun with my three nieces. There is something about a child being happy to see you, giving you a hug, and wanting to play with you. It delights my heart.

I think this is how God is delighted when we are happy to be with him, giving spiritual hugs in praise and thanksgiving, and wanting to do something with him. It delights his heart as well as ours.

You know how you want to give good gifts to children. Well, God knows how to give good gifts to us, his children. They are always perfect. He knows exactly what we need at every moment.

Prayer: Dear Father, you are a delight. Thank you for always being there for us and for the great gifts you give us. I pray that for more special times with you each day. Amen

Faith tip: Spend some time today delighting in the Lord.
