Entering into a Year of Victory

Siverstone at the start-finish line

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

This morning the news played clips from events in 2011, and unfortunately, most were frightening and horrific.  It’s hard to imagine all of these things happening in one year’s time. There were losses, swindles, earthquakes, tsunamis, war, bombs, murders, and more. What hope does this world have in face of all the darkness?

Jesus is our hope, light and salvation. He knew things would appear dark and told us so. Of all the things that have happened and will still occur, Jesus has victory over them all. We need to remember to takes our eyes off from focusing on what we can see around us and stare into the heart of Jesus. That is where we will find peace that passes understanding.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for being the prince of peace no matter what happens in the world. I pray that I can cling to you when troubles surround me. Amen

Faith Tip: As you think about the last year, celebrate and mourn the events in your life. Then look ahead to a new year of possibilities with Jesus as your guide.

  1. What a wonderful post to start the new year with, very well put. That’s a great reminder to practice taking my focus off of the problems and keep my focus on Jesus. He is the only way to peace.
