Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. – 1 John 2:15-16
Being a servant means to serve with all the gifts given to us in response to God’s love for us. God’s love is shown in so many ways, but the most prominent, of course, being the sacrificing of his Son on the cross. There was victory in that sacrifice, but it was painful.
Millions of vets today gave of themselves in our history and continue to do so. They are serving a bigger cause than themselves and that is very Christ-like. No man or woman gives more than laying down their lives for others. It is a service that those who have not experienced it can never really know the pain as well as the victory of the gift.
Prayer: Jesus, I thank you for the heart you have given so many to serve. I pray that I will not take what they have given for granted and be encouraged to give to others sacrificially. Amen
Faith Tip: What sacrifice could you give of yourself today? Pray for direction and discernment.
