“You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.” – Psalm 119:114
Susan loved the path she was on. The teachings and readings she was experiencing were filling her spirit. The prayer and Bible readings of the week spoke to her heart. She was refreshed … she was energized. Then the phone call came of a child suffering with cancer, then another phone call of her adult child being incarcerated. She also had a heart to heart discussion with a family member whose marriage is falling apart. Her heart ached for these people, but yet there was peace. The week’s filling up experiences readied her for this emotional chaos that needed God’s light.
Isn’t life like that for us, too? One moment we are laughing carefree and the next we are down on our knees. The only way to be ready for the struggles we experience is to swim deep into God’s word daily. Knowing the truth helps shine light needed to journey through the dark valley experiences. Hope comes from knowing Jesus. We can have peace in all situations by living the word in obedience. He is there walking with us and sometime carrying us, through the rough terrain. He gives us rest and protection all the days of our life.
Prayer: Jesus, I thank you for being my constant companion. Your word gives light on life situations that are challenging. I pray that I may be obedient to the direction you give me. Amen
Faith Tip: Give yourself some peace today and delve into God’s word.
