For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity. (Jeremiah 29:11-14)
Everyone struggles. It may not be right now, but somewhere in our lives there is struggle. We find ourselves in a deep valley with no apparent way out. The walls seem too high for us to scale, we feel that no one really understands making us feel alone, and wonder how we can ever get through the struggle often leading to a false belief that there is no way out.
Struggle is used I believe to bring us closer to God. Unfortunately, we usually don’t see what God can do until we get to the end of ourselves. When we stop trying to humanly fix the problem on our own strength and fully seek God for his strength, basically getting ourselves out of the way, God will do amazing things. When we are in a valley feeling there’s no way out, we do feel like a captive. God promises that we will find him when we seek him with all our heart. He promises to take us from our captivity, whatever that may be for us. With God, we can be truly free if we just surrender.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for holding the future in your hand and making your plan for us perfect. You give us hope in all things. I pray that I may seek you daily with all of my heart and live a life of freedom in you. Amen
Faith tip: What is keeping you captive today? Release it into the trusting hands of Jesus and be free.
