Powerful Prepositions

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I find with the scripture verse above the most powerful parts are the prepositional phrases. We know we need to trust in the Lord, but how do we do that with all of our heart? We need to lean on God, but not depend on our own understanding? We know we need to acknowledge God in our life, but do we in all of our ways?

Basically, God wants it all from us. Not just a little trust here and there, and sometimes an acknowledgement of his presence. In worldly views, that goes against our grain. What about our rights or our independence? I think it is in the last phrase that shows us the great love of God that he doesn’t want us to be controlled like robots, but come to him freely with all these things for our benefit. He will help us discern which way to go for our good. He loves us with all he has and knows what is best for us, so he pleads with us that we trust him, acknowledge him, and lean on him because he wants us to succeed and he knows the way.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for your great love that shows us the way daily. I pray that I surrender my worldly views and replace them with your heavenly views. Amen.

Faith tip: Start practicing this and don’t give up or get discouraged. Keep going!
